Zespół Nihil Quest powstał w Bydgoszczy latem 2006 roku z myślą o graniu inspirowanym przede wszystkim hardrockowo-metalową klasyką (Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Slayer), ale także bluesem i rockiem industrialnym.
Pierwsze wydawnictwo zespołu, trzyutworowa EP-ka zatytułowana "0.9", ukazała się pod koniec 2009 roku. Dwa lata później powstał pełnowymiarowy, zawierający 11 utworów album "1.1 Splendid Isolation" (wydany 11.11.2011).
Zespół nie był zainteresowany współpracą z wytwórniami fonograficznymi, które musiałoby oznaczać ograniczanie swobody dystrybucji materiału. Wkrótce po zakończeniu prac nad płytą została udostępniona w Internecie. Można ją kupić w takich sklepach jak iTunes oraz Amazon MP3 store, ale także pobrać za damo z serwisu Jamendo. Płyta została wydana na licencji Creative Commons, to pozwala m.in. na bezpłatne odtwarzanie muzyki oraz na jej niekomercyjne wykorzystanie w filmach, grach komputerowych itd.
Na muzycznej scenie Nihil Quest wyróżnia szczególne zamiłowanie do multimediów. Pierwszy teledysku doczekał się utwór "(Also Sprach) Franky", kolejny był "Chemical Saviour". Instrumentalny fragment "Holy Nailhead" został zaś użyty w filmie animowanym Chopin Quest. Warto też wspomnieć o opowiadaniu "Memento Mortyria", autorstwa wokalisty zespołu, Iana Giedrojcia, które w listopadzie 2011 roku ukazało się w piśmie "Science Fiction, Fantasy i Horror". The album was published via iTunes, Amazon MP3 store and other digital outlets. However it was also made available for free on Jamendo under Creative Commons license. Bartłomiej "Pą" Wanecki, a highly skilled guitarist and a former member of the first NQ line-up, had a really important contribution to the recording of the debut album (and he also appeared in the "Franky" video) .
